Initially, Richard led the 2016 multi-million-pound project to create a new broadcast centre and home to Volant Media.

The Project Included:

• Two studios
• Galleries / PCRs
• Edit suites
• Voice Booths
• MCR
• 40 Rack Data Centre
• Full air conditioning
• Technical power including the installation of 2 large generators and twin UPS systems providing A+B power
• Domestic power and lighting
• Satellite dishes and steel support structure on concrete pads for the roof

Then, after a few minor update projects in 2023, Volant appointed Richard to lead the construction project to repurpose an existing large scale broadcast facility to create a new multichannel 24 hour new facility as their new UK home.

This included:

• Large scale acoustic glazing to separate the large studios from the newsrooms
• Construction of a new studio 3
• Task lighting in galleries and control rooms
• Construction of a new playout centre
• Removal and replacement of the main studio floor with a resin studio floor
• New Production Gallery
• Translation Booths
• Air Conditioning and Electrical services works to assist the re-purpose of the space
